Just five barrels comprise this lot: 100% Pommard clone Pinot Noir from our estate vineyard, aged in 50% new French oak.
In 2007 we noticed a pattern: we consistently preferred the Pommard 05 clone in newer oak barrels than the other clones. So, we pulled off four barrels and bottled our first Clone 05. It sold out quickly, and we've been doing it ever since.
This wine is designed to be slightly bigger in style and toastier than our other releases. It's brimming with ripe cherry fruit but still balanced with good acidity.
The grapes for this wine were hand harvested, then fermented with 30% whole clusters and with wild yeast and wild ML cultures. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
